The Wine
'Miss Piggy Blues' is a very light, yet elegant wine that blurs the lines between a deep Rosé and a light-bodied red. This 2024 release is a unique blend of Muscat Rose à Petits Grains and Alicante sourced from the vineyards surrounding Wim’s winery. The Alicante vines are quite old and dotted throughout the plots, while the Muscat Rose provides the majority of the juice.
Because the Muscat Rose has pink-flecked skin (rather than being a true Rosé variety) and makes up most of the blend, the resulting colour is exceptionally light. It is an ideal choice for any time you want a wine that is refreshing rather than a "blockbuster."
The Producer
Wim Wagemans, originally from Belgium, found his home in the Languedoc where he produces his Le Bouc à Trois Pattes (The Three-Legged Goat) range. His philosophy is strictly natural, avoiding synthetic chemicals in the vineyard and interventions in the cellar. Wim’s focus is on capturing the purity and "living" energy of the Haute-Vallée de l’Aude through small-batch, low-intervention winemaking.
