Amphora-Matured Natural Wine, Alsace.

Khépri is a groundbreaking cuvée from Geschickt in Alsace, the first wine they have matured in amphora. The grapes come from the historic Kaefferkopf Grand Cru vineyard behind the village of Ammerschwihr, a rare Grand Cru composed of three sites on limestone and granite soils.

Unlike most Alsace Grand Crus, Kaefferkopf allows blends, and Khépri brings together Gewürztraminer, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay. The fruit underwent 200 days of skin maceration before resting in amphora, named after the Egyptian god Khépri. Bottled without sulphur, this is a pure, expressive, and unfiltered reflection of vineyard and vessel.

The wine is powerful and complex at 14% ABV, with lifted aromatics, spice, and texture. Its label, showing a person holding a beetle to their face, references the name Kaefferkopf, meaning “beetle head.” A bold and intriguing wine, it’s both a tribute to Alsatian terroir and a daring step forward in natural winemaking.
